Vehicle Description
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 4x4 Long Bed Pickup
The Silverado line was the successor to the C/K trucks and first
showed up in 1975. But with growing demand for capable work trucks
that could also do weekend duty, pickup trucks quickly became
personal luxury vehicles on stilts and acquired many of the
creature comforts found in less work focused vehicles. And those
features extended to medium and heavy duty versions where in the
previous generation, you were lucky to have power brakes on your
truck and living large if you had A/C.
For consignment, not your average 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500.
Sure, it has low mileage with a title verified 49,383 actual miles.
It has the 8.1-liter Vortec V8. But what makes it a stand out is
that it was custom ordered and is an RPO verified one of one in
special order Dark Toreador Red. So, while all the normal 3500
attributes make it a great truck, the paint makes it special.
Exterior
There it is! The burgundy hued Dark Toreador Red. A toreador is
essentially a matador, who waves his red cape to prompt an attack
from a bull. And while Toreador Red was in the GM paint room, it
was never used on a Silverado, until this one. And that's no bull!
The truck itself sits high with chrome bumpers and a matching
SNUGTop cap on the bed. 16-inch chrome wheels carry LT285/75R16
tires and along with the factory ride height, create a massive go
anywhere stance. Extra large side mirrors are housed in black, and
a tow hitch is out back for pulling your race car, backhoe, camper,
or virtually anything else that weighs 9,800 pounds or less.
Overall, the exterior is in immaculate condition and we could not
find any notable flaws or blemishes. The tailgate shows some use as
do the sidewalls and bed which is covered in a fitted rubber
mat.
Interior
Ebony molded plastic door panels have rounded edges, plastic
buttons, and large speaker panels. Step up to the cab and we find
grey cloth bucket seats, well cushioned and soft and in line with
the truck's proportions, large! The fold down storage bin/armrest
also serves as the seat back for a third occupant who will have to
straddle the transmission hump if they're any taller than Danny
DeVito. A standard leather wrapped steering wheel leads to a well
organized gauge cluster and a column mounted shifter. The
electronic range selector is to the left of the wheel and with the
push of a button, you can go into 4 low or a number of other
options. The days of getting out and locking hubs by hand are over!
The center stack has an AM/FM/CD radio and climate controls. Ample
leg room in the footwells is covered in low pile gray carpet in
perfect condition while the grey fleece like headliner looks great
and features an overhead console with lights and a storage bin.
Drivetrain
The 3500 is equipped with an 8.1 liter Vortec V8 rated at 330
horsepower. It's fuel injected and tied to an Allison 6-speed
automatic transmission. 4.10 gears are in the front and rear axle
with the rear being limited slip. Power disc brakes halt big red at
all four wheels.
Undercarriage
Generally clean underneath with the typical surface rust on
untreated metal surfaces. CV boots appear to be intact, and
bushings look good. The single exhaust snakes its way under the
truck, encounters the original muffler, then exits via a large
tailpipe behind the rear wheel. Torsion bar suspension is found in
the front's independent configuration while leaf springs are
mounted in the back.
Drive-Ability
Who doesn't love a big truck with big power? We climb in and rise
above all as we crank the 8.1 to life. With a few revolutions of
the big wheels, we're out on the test loop and rolling on knobby
all terrain tires that are more than capable on our flat
terrain.
A well maintained, low mileage truck from 2006 is all we expect.
Plenty of power and torque on hand and all functions work from our
control deck in the comfortable cab.If you're looking for a 3500
but want something just a little bit different, consider this 1 of
1 colored Silverado as an option. It will not only provide all the
workload capacity you need but give you bragging rights in the
break room. Beyond that, it's a clean, low mileage truck that is a
versatile piece of transportation. Step into the bullring and give
this one a wave!
