For Sale: 1955 MG TF in Meriden, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1955 MG TF 1500
The MG TF came out in 1953 and was powered with the 1250CC (XPAG) engine used in the MG TD. Performance with this engine was disappointing and a new engine was developed with a displacement of 1500cc. In the summer of 1954, the new 1500cc (XPEG) engine was installed in the TF’s. The limited production run lasted until 1955 and totaled approximately 3400 cars. The entire production run of MG TFs totaled 9600 cars between 1953 and 1955.
The MG TF 1500 cars are identified with a 1500 badge on the side panels of the bonnet and the engine has a XPEG badge on the passenger side of the block.
These sold well and are still very popular today due to the sleek lines, better handling, enhanced power and comfort.
This one has been in this owner's possession for close to ten years. He purchased it from someone who supposedly bought the car in pieces and put her all together.
It is fully numbers matching: Engine, body and frame still together as they were when it left the Abingdon factory in England.
This owner took things a few steps further and really made her reliable and shiny. The driven car has won trophies in shows throughout New England.
The odometer says 2728 miles, but we know that is not correct and that 102,000 miles is more accurate. However, this car truly looks like a car with only 2700 miles and the rebuilt engine has approximately 1000 miles on it.
The owner has touched nearly everything on this car and it is as near to perfect as one can get with a car that is actually driven.
The engine was rebuilt and balanced using a Crane Cam and a billet crankshaft imported from England. The exhaust manifold is flame spray coated and attached to an SS exhaust system. It has a new water pump and rebuilt SU carbs, a 7 blade MG-B fan and the transmission has new seals and bearings. The radiator has been recored.  The wiring harness has been replaced and the car has been switched over to negative ground.  The oil pressure and amp gauges were rebuilt, the generator rebuilt, and the voltage regulator was replaced along with the fuse block. A third LED brake light was wired in and a LED array was installed to the both rear tail lights. The brakes have been done recently along with new coil, plugs and wires. A luggage rack was added and side curtains were renewed using the Moss kit. It comes with a black bikini top, a half and full tan canvas tonneau, and a tan canvas convertible top. All are in excellent condition.
The bucket seats were done in a deep red leather, along with the dash wrap, the windshield has been replaced with a tinted one. An under-dash cover was installed with a CB. It comes with its hand crank in case Lucas, the Prince of Darkness, fails to start her via electrons. All receipts are available for work performed.
Plain and simple, this car is in stunning shape and aside from possibly three small imperfections is ready to take to a show and win trophies or be driven reliably around your home state.
The TF 1500s value continue to be strong due to their relative rarity, superior performance to the TD and a better overall appearance.
The asking price on this very pretty MG roadster is $29,500
