Vehicle Description
The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud was a luxury automobile produced by
Rolls-Royce Limited from April 1955 to March 1966. The Silver Cloud
was the core model of the company during that period. The Silver
Cloud replaced the Silver Dawn model.
The construction of the Silver Cloud was body-on-frame with a
majority of the body shells being produced by the Pressed Steel
Company. A light-weight aluminum was utilized for the doors, hood
and trunk lid. A slight redesign for the Silver Cloud III in 1962
made the overall footprint smaller and the interior was
upgraded.
The 6.2 liter, eight-cylinder engine paired with the GM-sourced
four-speed automatic, Hydramatic transmission, carried over from
the Silver Cloud II, gave the Silver Could III power and a smooth
ride for its passengers. This James Young Silver Cloud III
limousine features right-hand drive and is a fine driving vehicle
with class. It would be a nice addition to anyone's collection.
