- U.S. specification model boasting a known history from new
- Less than 27,000 miles from new
- Accompanied by its original manuals, jack, and tool kit
Built for the 1988 model year and completed by Ferrari in November
of 1987, this Testarossa was built to U.S. specifications and
shipped to Classic Italia of Richardson, Texas. Its first owner was
Janks Garrett, a lawyer from Arlington, Texas, who purchased the
car on January 14, 1988. Photographs included in the history file
show that the car was delivered just as it presents today, finished
in Bianco over a Beige leather interior, fitted with the single
wheel nut "monodado" wheels.
The Testarossa remained with Garrett until October 19, 1994 when it
was purchased by its second owner, William Batterman Ruger at 7,971
miles. Ruger was a firearms designer who established Strum, Ruger &
Company in 1949 and a well-known collector of pre-war automobiles,
and had the Testarossa registered at his home in New Hampshire.
Ruger sold the Testarossa about a year later to a dealership in
California from which it passed to another dealer, Charles Agipou
of Los Angeles.
Agipou sold the Testarossa that same year to Christian v. Friborg,
at which point it was exported to his native Denmark, having been
driven 9,597 miles. Interestingly, a article published in the May
1996 issue of the Danish publication Esbjerg Posten says the car
was driven by actor Richard Gere whilst in Los Angeles.
Continuing to remain in Denmark, the Testarossa was purchased by
Mark Nielsen in April of 2014, also a well-known Ferrari
enthusiast, and shortly after, the engine's timing belt was
replaced during an engine-out service in June of 2014. Nielsen kept
the car for a year prior to selling to the consignor with 25,608
miles. At this point, the car was exported to Germany, where it has
remained ever since accruing roughly 1,200 miles since.
Importantly, the car is offered with its original tool kit, jack,
and owner's manuals, as well as some documentation, including
service invoices from its time in Denmark. A well-preserved example
boasting a known history from new and still wearing its original
colours, this would be a lovely Testarossa to drive and enjoy. To
