Leyland Motors acquired Standard-Triumph in 1960, and soon began
producing the lovely little British sports cars enthusiasts know
and love today. Built between 1968 and 1976, the Triumph TR6 is
truly an iconic British motor vehicle. These cars are loved by
American enthusiasts for their low entry cost and, of course, the
fun factor of a sporty British classic. This final year TR6 has a
lot going for it: Not only is it the final year of production, but
it also is covered in a rare Mimosa Yellow with Chestnut interior,
equipped with the desirable overdrive option and carries with it
receipts to prove how nearly every nut and bolt has been replaced
to make it an extremely road worthy car.
The last year of the TR6, this yellow beauty is outfitted with the
proper 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine, this car is a great example
of a very high-quality driver or weekend vehicle. The paint is in
excellent condition and shows well, while the interior is clean and
free of any glaring damage. No doubt this Triumph will transport
the operator back in time when behind the wheel! This little car is
an absolute riot to drive and is sure to turn heads in this Mimosa
yellow paint anywhere you take it. The lack of power steering on
the road actually makes you genuinely feel connected with the
vehicle and is almost welcome in a car like this. A naturally
aspirate British 2.5-liter may not sound like much, but in this
little rocket, it is plenty! You can row through the gear quite
easily, and when you put your foot down she really moves.
Overall, this Triumph is in excellent condition having undergone a
restoration not so very long ago. The current owner has had nearly
every part of the steering and suspension replaced as well as some
exhaust components. Most importantly, he has the receipts to prove
it! Two other noteworthy items listed in the work was the gas tank
was removed, cleaned and boiled before receiving a fresh coat of
paint and placed back in the car. They also opted to replace the
outdated rear suspension with the rear shock conversion kit and a
rear sway bar. Both the front and rear suspension including the
brakes were completely gone through and replaced. And when you get
behind the wheel it shows.
Additionally, the car is accompanied by the Certified Copy of A
Factory Record from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust to
verify things such as options and original paint color. This is a
well-presented piece of British history that would be absolutely
impossible not to have a ball in! All this puppy needs is a new
owner!
