Vehicle Description
The Chevrolet Master and Master Deluxe are American passenger
vehicles manufactured by Chevrolet between 1933 and 1942 to replace
the 1933 Master Eagle. It was the most expensive model in the
Chevrolet range at this time, with the Standard Mercury providing
an affordable product between 1933 and 1937.1 #fn1 Starting with
this generation, all GM cars shared a corporate appearance as a
result of the Art and Color Section headed by Harley Earl.1 #fn1
From 1940 a more expensive version based on the Master Deluxe was
launched called the Special Deluxe. The updated corporate
appearance introduced a concealed radiator behind a faade with a
grille. This particular really honest and solid example is an
unmolested copy that is free from rot and rust with the exception
of the underside that has surface rust as you would expect from a
85 year old automobile. The lights seem to be inoperable at this
time, however the car starts, runs, shifts, brakes and goes down
the road very nicely. It idles like a sewing machine and has plenty
of power. There is no crazy noises or squeaks and it does not seem
to smoke. It does leak a little oil from the rear seal but nothing
horrible. The metal, including the running boards are nice. This is
kind of a blank slate as its all there and would either make a
great restoration project, hot rod or in my opinion, leave it alone
and drive it as is. The paint has nice patina but does not look
bad.
