The Ferrari Enzo needs no introduction. It was the successor to the
F50. Debuted at the Paris Motor show in 2002. It was a car way
ahead of its time; designed around the Formula One car and using
space age materials such as carbon fiber and nomex honeycomb with
aluminum sub-frames. Penned by designer Ken Okuyama at Pinninfarina
and twenty-one years later it has aged like fine wine. It resembles
a formula one car wrapped for the street. Similar to the F50, this
was border line luxurious race car for the street with no frills;
leather, but no radio or power windows.
Powering the Enzo was the F140B V-12. At almost 6 liters, this
engine was the largest engine Ferrari built since the 712 Can-Am
racer. The engine was also prepared like the Formula One cars with
nikasil lined cylinder walls, titanium connecting rods, high rise
velocity stack intake manifold. This engine pumped out 651hp and
485lb-ft. (Different iterations of this engine powered the 599 ,
F12's and made its way into the LaFerrari).
Ferrari would become the first to integrate the electronic control
system, engine, gearbox, suspension, traction control,
aerodynamics, brake force distribution, and anti-lock braking, with
constant communication among all operating systems in order to
deliver optimum performance. Another first would be the Enzo's
carbon fiber vented Brembo four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock
circuitry.
This particular Enzo was sold new to one of the part owners of
Ferrari Newport Beach Jay Wilton. This is one of 126 U.S. Enzo's,
it is reportedly one of 6 in Argento Nuburgring for the world and 1
of 1 for the U.S. with Black and Red interior. This car has covered
just over 9,400 miles, where the second owner enjoyed the car for
12 years before being sold to its third owner who had the car for 8
years and put under 5 miles on the car prior to our acquisition.
This car has fastidious service records and most recently underwent
a service by a marque specialist which included all new fluids,
filters and tires. It is Ferrari Classiche Red Book Certified and
is complete with its books, tools, tire inflator, gloves and car
cover. This car presents like it has less than 3,000 miles.
The Enzo is the 4th in line of the current big 5 of the "Halo
Cars." The Enzo is the most drivable of the first 4 Halo's and
looking back now, was one of the most cutting edge designs in
modern history since the turn of the century.
